The Department of Public Policies (DPP/UFRN) carried out in partnership with the Union of Municipal Education Directors of Rio Grande do Norte (Undime/RN) an online survey aimed at Municipal Education Directors, School Managers, Teachers, Education Servers and Students from the Municipal Network of the 167 municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte.
The research showed, among other data, that: 92% of municipalities adopted strategies for non-face-to-face activities; 98.2% of schools maintained communication with students' families, mainly using WhatsApp; 83% of teachers had to change their routine a lot or completely since the first notifications of covid-19.
In total, the research involved the participation of 70,475 members of the school community. Professor Sandra Gomes, from the Department of Public Policy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), coordinated the research tabulation work, together with other professors and postgraduate students who made up the team.
"With information at hand and careful interpretation of data, it is possible to improve the planning and execution capacity of municipal education departments' actions, positively affecting the well-being of school managers, teachers, staff, students, parents and guardians of students. Due to the gravity and unprecedented nature of the moment we are living in in the face of the pandemic, it is an important initiative to listen to the conditions of everyone involved in municipal education in the state of Rio Grande do Norte", the team from the UFRN Department of Public Policies pointed out in the report.
