UFRN participates in the Gastronomic Festival programming at Quilombo de Sibaúma

As part of the Gastronomic Festival program, the Quilombola Community of Sibaúma carries out, between the 1st and 3rd of May, a set of activities organized in partnership with the CIRS research group, from the Department of Anthropology, and by students from the Postgraduate Course in Anthropology and the Tourism course at UFRN.

The initiative integrates the projects “Research and Extension with a Focus on Territorial Management, Cultural Rights and Development in Quilombola Communities”, the extension project “Heritage Education in Quilombo de Sibaúma: Valorization of Local Knowledge and Environmental Preservation”, made possible by CAPES, as well as the project “Cultures and local knowledge, food security and challenges facing socio-environmental transformations”, with support from CNPq.

The program will feature a quilombola fair, black cake preparation workshops, digital marketing and berimbau, as well as a photographic exhibition about food in Sibaúma. The first edition of the “Quilombo Film Festival, in Quilombo”, will also be held, with the premiere of the documentary “Território em Tese: Quilombola Trajectories”, produced by quilombola postgraduate students, also with support from CAPES.

The activities aim to promote integration between research, teaching and extension, in addition to providing practical experiences for students and communities.

The program will be held at Praça do Berimbau de Sibaúma and is open to the public. Check out the complete program in the attached cards.
