CCHLA server is the first administrative technician authorized to coordinate a research project at UFRN

The Dean of Research (Propesq) issued the first declaration authorizing the coordination of a research project by a technical-administrative employee at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Authorization was granted to server Karla Geane de Oliveira, working at the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA).

Karla will serve as coordinator of the research project “Text review: a study on teaching practice in Rio Grande do Norte”, which will be developed at the Department of Humanities between September 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027. The project was approved by the Department of Humanities and approved by the CCHLA, making it ready to begin its activities on the scheduled date.

The procedure followed the guidelines of Normative Instruction No. 01/2025-PROPESQ, of July 24, 2025, which regulates the flow of formalization and institutional approval of scientific research, technological development and innovation (RD&I) projects coordinated by technical-administrative employees in education within the scope of UFRN.

According to Karla Geane, the research is directly related to the activities she performs at CCHLA. "At CCHLA, I work with the review of academic texts. Text review is a language practice that serves different purposes. It is the moment to understand in the text what needs to be improved. The objective of the research that I will coordinate is to identify and analyze the text review practices used by Portuguese language teachers in basic education in state schools in Rio Grande do Norte and, from this, offer new contributions, having as a foundation the work with text review, and with the training of new reviewers, which has already been developed by UFRN’s CCHLA.”

The server highlights that the authorization represents a milestone for the category. "This is an important achievement for the technical-administrative employees and one that came through many struggles. Because it is a new activity at UFRN, it was also a challenge for the CCHLA, specifically for the secretariat, for the Management of that Center, as well as for the Department of Humanities, which together carried out the necessary procedures."

Karla also highlights the importance of expanding publicity of the initiative to encourage other employees. "We need to publicize more so that more technical-administrative employees can coordinate projects. It will soon be possible to register via Sigprojetos and participate in public notices."
