The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) improved the concept of undergraduate courses evaluated in the National Student Performance Exam (Enade), of the Ministry of Education (MEC). The latest edition analyzed bachelor's degrees in the areas of Applied Social Sciences and Human Sciences, as well as higher education courses in Technology in the areas of Management and Design. 75% of graduations achieved grade 4 and 5, a score considered excellent.
According to the coordinator of Monitoring, Planning and Academic Evaluation at UFRN, Fabiano do Espírito Santo Gomes, the evolution in course evaluation was due to the Support Program for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education approved in 2017, which allowed the planning of courses based on external and internal evaluations, such as Enade or its own evaluation committees, for example.
The program aims to encourage the development of teaching methodologies and resources; improve learning in curricular components, contributing to the reduction of withdrawals, failures and dropouts; in addition to encouraging interdisciplinarity. “A culture of self-evaluation and analysis of external evaluation reports is being created at the institution, which allows it to enhance strengths and correct weaknesses”, explains the professor.
At UFRN, the Advertising, Psychology, Social Service and Law (Natal) courses received maximum grade (grade 5). The Design, Administration (Natal and Higher Education Center of Seridó – Ceres), Accounting Sciences (Natal), Tourism (Natal), Journalism, Law (Ceres) and Tourism (Ceres) courses scored 4. Public Administration (distance learning), Public Policy Management and Accounting Sciences (Ceres) scored 3, and Economic Sciences scored 2. Check out the reports on the website of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP).
