The Applied Psychology Service (SEPA), a supplementary unit of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA/UFRN), and the Laboratory of Studies in Thanatology and Humanization of Health Practices (LETHS), of the Department of Psychology at UFRN, are working on Psychological Reception through the Coronavirus Prevention Call Center, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sesap).
The Coronavirus Prevention Hotline works on a platform developed by the State Government, on the phone number 3190-0700. According to the director of SEPA, Symone Fernandes de Melo, there are 34 volunteer psychologists involved in the action, working in shifts to fill the schedule from 7am to 11pm daily.
The objective of the Call Center, which also offers information and clarification services about Covid-19 and forms of donation, is to provide support to society, which can answer questions and receive, for example, guidance on self-care, prevention methods and identification of symptoms, aiming to minimize, at first, the need to go to a health unit. In this way, contact with other patients is avoided and, consequently, the possibility of transmitting the virus, if any of them already have Covid-19 disease.
