CCHLA held a debate on Futura-se

In Natal, CCHLA held the discussion in the auditorium of Instituto Ágora, on the Central Campus, with as mediators the Vice-Rector of People Management (Progesp), Mirian Dantas dos Santos, the coordinator of the Journalism course, from the Social Communication Department (Decom), Kênia Maia, and the president of the UFRN Teachers' Association (Adurn), Wellington Duarte.
In the view of Pro-Rector Mirian Danta, the debate at CCHLA was positive, as it allowed the presentation and clarification of many points about the project. “We seek to show what is in the text of the Future-se project, which is not always read, to discuss what the government's proposal represents, in practice, in a way that allows a reflection not only on the project itself, but also on the contexts we have been going through in recent years”, highlighted Mirian. For her, the project is not clear and comes at a difficult time with a lot of uncertainty, hence the need for a broad discussion.
The coordinator of the Journalism course at Decom/UFRN, Kênia Maia, said she observed that the project focuses a lot on key words such as “market” and “performance” which, in her view, distorts what is understood as a public, free, inclusive and quality university. “I realized that the proposal is concerned with research and talks about teaching as an ‘ordinary task’, leaving aside a series of important issues in the educational process”, he highlighted.
According to Kênia, the project has “many gotchas” and seems to want to “end university autonomy”, as it would disregard collegiate bodies, from departments to higher councils, leaving decisions in the hands of Social Organizations.
