Department of Social Sciences promotes Seminar to celebrate 100 years of the Surrealist Manifesto

On the 9th, the UFRN Department of Social Sciences will begin the Extension Seminar “Art, Revolt and Culture: 100 years of the Surrealist Manifesto”. Organized by professor Lucas Fortunato, the event proposes fortnightly meetings to debate the artistic, political and cultural legacy of Surrealism, as well as its historical relevance.
The meetings will take place remotely between October 9th and November 13th, and will feature the participation of several specialized researchers who will present their research, in order to update and understand notions such as avant-garde, cultural movements and art-revolt.
The confirmed schedule includes the following lectures
. October 9, at 7pm – Surrealism in Brazil and the world: Floriano Martins and Elys Regina Zils (Agulha Revista de Cultura);
. October 23rd, at 7pm – Artaud: radical surrealist: Alex Galeno (UFRN-Marginália);
. November 6th, at 7pm – Unification and overcoming of the political and aesthetic vanguards in the Situationist International: Erick Corrêa (UNESP);
. November 13th at 4pm – Surrealism in Portugal: Rui Sousa and Lúcia Evangelista (University of Lisbon).
Registration for the activity takes place via Sigaa, just access the link and then type the title of the action “100 years of the Surrealist Manifesto” and follow the registration procedure.
