The Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLEM), at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), promotes a National Colloquium on German as a Foreign Language (ALE) and Germanistics in the Northeast of Brazil. The event takes place on September 15th and 16th, 2022, at Instituto Ágora. Registration is available at SIGAA.
The program begins at 2pm on the 15th with the introduction of professor Wiebke Röben Xavier (UFRN) and continues with the round table on Perspectives and Challenges of German as a Foreign Language (ALE) and Northeastern Germanism, which takes place from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. After that, Thematic Block I: Didactics and Methodology begins at 4pm. The day's events end with the Literary Translation Soiree, from 6:15 pm to 8 pm.
The second day of the event introduces, at 8:30 am, thematic Block II: German Literature and Culture in the Teaching-Learning of ALE, Germanistics and Comparative Literature. At 10:30 am, the program continues with thematic Block III: Linguistics in the Scope of ALE and Germanistics and shortly after the end, at 11:30 am, a round table will be held discussing Interdisciplinary Perspectives, Linguistics and Literature, Culture and Translation Studies in the Northeast.
In the afternoon, the Poster Exhibition with Presentations of PIBIC Projects: Young Researchers I and Communications – Young Researchers II takes place from 1:30 pm to 3:45 pm. The last program of the Colloquium takes place from 4pm to 6pm, with two workshops on German as a Foreign Language in Practice.
“The event is important because, at the Federal University, we are always trying to improve our internationalization, whether in professional training or in the academic development of our students”, explains Wiebke. Furthermore, the professor also says that the colloquium focuses on intercultural, interdisciplinary, transatlantic aspects and contextual and pluricentric Germanism.
