UFRN promotes Zero Discrimination campaign

The Dean of People Management (Progesp) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), through the Directorate of Public Health Care (DAS), carries out the Zero Discrimination campaign in March. In its fourth edition, the initiative seeks to establish and deepen in the university community a social practice of unconditional defense of the freedom and autonomy of subjects, with a respectful attitude towards human diversity and the free expression of individualities. To this end, mobilization actions will be promoted from March 18th to 25th, in various locations on the central campus.
On the 18th, the campaign will be announced during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Group of People Affected by the Disease of Alcoholism (GADA), held in the auditorium of the School of Music (EMUFRN). The mobilization continues from March 19th to 22nd in different sectors of the University, passing, respectively, through the School of Science and Technology (ECT), University Restaurant (RU), DAS and Community Center. The program will end with participation in the monthly meeting of the DAS Life with Maturity project, on the 25th. The campaign also includes an Exhibition on Diversity, in partnership with the UFRN Design course, which will be exhibited from March 18 to 25 at DAS.
"The initiative is primarily focused on mental health, continuing the actions carried out during White January, as a way of ensuring the continuation of discussions. Zero Discrimination is also linked to future campaigns, including Lilac August, Yellow September and Red December", explains DAS psychologist Maria Angélica Aires Gil. Created by the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Zero Discrimination was launched worldwide in 2013, and its symbol is the butterfly, which represents transformation and the commitment to assuming behavior open to diversity and tolerance.
Other information about the campaign at UFRN can be obtained from the DAS Psychosocial Support Coordination (COAPS), by calling 3342-2330 (option 8) or by email at coapsufrn@gmail.com.
