In honor of World Photography Day, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) launches the photographic contest #UFRNgo from August 19th to 29th. Participants need to explore a good angle and share the photo on their Instagram feed with the hashtag #UFRNgo and tag the profiles @urfn.br and @cooperativacultural. During the week, photos of different spaces at the University will be suggested.
Every three days, a selection of the best photos will be published on the UFRN Instagram page. Followers will comment and choose the best one. Each comment equals one vote. The three most commented photos will win a R$50 book voucher for purchases at the cultural cooperative. The first space that should be photographed is the UFRN Tridente, located on BR 101.
The date was chosen because, on August 19, 1839, the French government presented its “new invention”: the daguerreotype, the first photographic process to be commercialized. The method was developed by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, who was the precursor of photography as we know it today. The photo must be of the monument posted. Anyone who loves photography can participate. At first, the competition will only take place on the central campus, but in future editions it will take place on other campuses of the University.
