The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and the Secretariat of Racial Equality and Human Rights of the Municipality of Natal (Semidh) signed, this Monday, 11th, the agreement for the execution of the Residency in Public Policies and Innovation, which will allow the implementation of the Human Rights Observatory in the Municipality of Natal. The cooperation agreement was signed by the vice-rector of UFRN, Henio Ferreira de Miranda, by the secretary of Semidh, Yara Costa, and by the director of the Fundação Norte-Rio-Grandense de Pesquisa e Cultura (Funpec), Aldo Dantas.
The moment was also attended by the dean of Planning at UFRN, Luiz Alessandro de Queiros, the director of the Institute of Public Policies (IPP), Lindijane de Souza Almeida, and the coordinator of the Public Policy Management (GPP) course, Raquel Silveira, who expressed the importance of the residency to support the insertion of graduates into the job market, in addition to contributing to the professionalization of public administration in Rio Grande do Norte. The first group, which will have practical experience at Semidh, is made up of 10 residents.
For Yara Costa, the initiative will help build a solid area of public policies and the organization of the state itself, in order to guarantee the rights of people in need. The potential of the residency was highlighted by Henio Miranda, who highlighted the relevance of specialization for professional development and thanked Semidh for the partnership in carrying out the teaching project.
Lasting 18 months, the Residency in Public Policies and Innovation has a workload of 2,400 hours, of which at least 1,440 hours are allocated to practical activities at the partner institution. The IPP is also coordinating the formation of new classes, through agreements with other interested bodies.
