UFRN joins the Interinstitutional Forum for the Promotion of Indigenous Rights in RN

Last Friday the 7th, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) participated in the creation of the Interinstitutional Forum for the Promotion of Indigenous Rights in Rio Grande do Norte (FOINPDI/RN). The forum is made up of associations representing the indigenous peoples of RN, in addition to various entities, bodies and institutions that have expressed support, including UFRN, represented by the Dean of Planning, Prof. Alessandro de Queiros.
The forum's main objective is to promote active listening to the demands of the state's indigenous peoples and contribute to the construction of appropriate solutions to issues related to the rights of these communities. The forum's activities will be based on dialogue, collaboration, cooperation, respect, inclusion and participation of indigenous communities, in line with the democratic principles of the Rule of Law.
The signing of the act of accession took place during the 5th Edition of the Mediation in Dialogues event, jointly organized by UFRN, through the Institute of Public Policies, and by the Federal Court in RN, via the Conciliation Center (CEJUSC/RN), as part of the Extension Project Building Collaborative Solutions for Judicialized Public Issues (CSC).
UFRN representatives at the forum include professors from the Department of Anthropology (Prof. José Glebson Vieira), Department of Educational Practices and Curriculum (Prof. Vânia Aparecida Costa), Department of Public Law at the Natal campus (Prof. Marise Costa de Souza Duarte), Department of Law at the Caicó campus (Prof. Ana Mônica Medeiros Ferreira) and the Institute of Public Policies (Prof. Raquel Maria da Costa Silveira).
