TVU is now 100% digital

Surprise for those who watched the Festival Música Potiguar Brasileira on UFRN University TV. The perfect signal, Full HD, caught the attention of viewers, after a struggle that lasted at least two years. The struggle of the Communication Superintendency (Comunica) to put into operation the equipment acquired at least two years ago began in June, when the new superintendent Sebastião Faustino took office.
With the support of the TV director, professor Mirian Moema, he gathered the strength, support and resources necessary to install the equipment that was stopped. Servers also needed to be trained to operate the new format. "The digital signal is a milestone, because before we had the channel free, but we didn't have the technology to transmit it. We were the only open broadcaster with this problem and now we have the same level of image quality as the others, overcoming one of the main complaints from viewers", reinforces Faustino.
According to Mirian Moema, the new signal makes it easier for viewers to address the issue of aesthetic quality that TV programs have been developing and improving every day, something that the analogue system did not allow them to explore. “We started with completely digital programming and people responded satisfactorily”, reinforces Mirian, who is finalizing a new program for 2020, with the aim of exploring the new signal quality. “Expectations are the most promising”, he reinforces.
