Depsi Symposium celebrates 60 years of the Psychology course in the country

The Department of Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), linked to the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), is holding the 10th ENPSI (Meeting of Psychology Students) – 2022 – Dialogues, Interfaces and New Horizons of Psychology, in celebration of the course's 60th anniversary in the country. The event takes place between the 12th and 14th of July, in the Zila Mamede Central Library Auditorium (BCZM). Interested parties can sign up for free on Sigaa.
The symposium is open to both the University's internal public, whether Psychology students and teachers, or the external public, including undergraduates and course teachers from other cities in Rio Grande do Norte. In this, its tenth edition, the action seeks to offer, mainly, complementary training space for DPSI students, with a programme marked by conferences, debates, lectures and short courses.
"As occurred in previous editions, it is expected that this activity can expand the spaces for problematization of Psychology graduates towards the space of training and production of knowledge of the course, as well as addressing issues related to citizenship in contemporary times. In this sense, topics will be addressed such as new fields of professional practice for male and female psychologists, in addition to some questions about Brazilian psychology; the balance of 60 years of regulation of the profession, in addition to the contribution of the area", explains Jorge Falcão, professor responsible for the symposium.
The professor adds that the event has already established itself in the program of training activities for the University's Psychology course. The ENPSI also joins the celebrations, throughout Brazil, of the 60th anniversary of the formal recognition of the area, with Law 4,119, enacted on August 27, 1962, which regulated the profession of psychologist and the minimum curriculum for undergraduate courses in Psychology.
