Project desCom debates racism, colonialism and education

Next Wednesday, the 23rd, the research project Subaltern Epistemologies and Communication (desCom) will hold another study meeting. The event's theme is Embodying the powers of Exu: Pedagogy of Crossroads and takes place from 10 am, in Room 1, of the UFRN Department of Social Communication.
At the meeting, undergraduate and postgraduate students who participate or collaborate with desCom will reflect on racism, colonialism and education based on the proposal for a Pedagogy of Crossroads prepared by thinker and pedagogue Luiz Rufino Rodrigues Junior. He rescues the powers of Exu – a Yoruban deity transferred in the diaspora – to transform them into an anti-colonial political, poetic and educational project.
Anyone interested in the topic can participate, whether internal or external to the university community. Those interested are recommended to read the text Pedagogia das Encruzilhadas in advance, although it is not a mandatory condition for participating in the debate. After the presentation, a discussion will be held based on the reflections presented.
desCom
The desCom project is coordinated by Antonino Condorelli, professor at the Department of Social Communication (Decom) and aims to reflect on the decolonization of thought and communication practices, as well as the production of knowledge in the human and social sciences in general, through the study of thoughts produced by subalternized subjects and social groups. Other information about the project can be found on Instagram and on Youtube.
