Book Philosophical History of Love is available for download

Freedom and love, when treated by metaphysics, are deeply related. This is one of the proposals made by professor Dax Moraes, PhD in Philosophy from UFRN, in the book História Filosófica do Amor. The digital file of the work is available in the Institutional Repository (RI).
The content of the work makes a critical analysis of what is said about love, from archaic Greek poetry to contemporary philosophical thought, emphasizing the dialogue with common sense on the subject. Furthermore, the author intends to demystify the understandings that tend to illusion, when love is idealized.
"The illusion is not typical of love, but comes from what human beings have come to expect from religious and moral conceptions. And nowadays, through materialistic conceptions, we no longer believe in what is transcendent about love", says Dax.
The book stands out because it is not dedicated to showing an idealized understanding of love, but what is essential about it beyond historically accumulated prejudices. The promise of happiness in love, fidelity, procreation, notions about good or evil, among other themes related to the work, make up the philosophical journey made by the professor in the book.
