The Institute
The Humanitas Institute is a Specialized Academic Unit in the area of Humanities and, recently created, is intended to fulfill, alone or jointly with CCHLA, special teaching, research and extension objectives.
In addition to permanent professors from UFRN, researchers from Brazilian universities participate in the Humanitas Institute. Among them is the Institute's first director, Alípio de Souza, and vice-director Douglas Araujo, both from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).
The creation of the Humanitas Institute makes it possible to offer society a new space for research and scientific training in the area of Humanities and for promoting public debate, elevating UFRN nationally and internationally in the production of theoretical knowledge, in participating in debates on current social issues and providing opportunities for projects inspired by the integration between science and practical action.
