Instituto Humanitas holds a Round Table on the importance of Philosophy and Human Sciences

   The Humanitas Institute, a recently created unit at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), is holding a round table “Who is afraid of Philosophy and Human Sciences?”, on the 10th, starting at 9 am, in the auditorium of the Zila Mamede Central Library (BCZM).
   The event will have as speakers professors Eduardo Pellejo, from the Department of Philosophy at UFRN, Penha Casado, from the Department of Letters at UFRN, Alexandro Galeno and Alípio de Souza, both from Humanitas.
   The round table is also part of the Tutorial Education Program (PET) in Social Sciences and entry is free.
The Institute
   The Humanitas Institute is a Specialized Academic Unit in the area of Humanities and, recently created, is intended to fulfill, alone or jointly with CCHLA, special teaching, research and extension objectives.
   In addition to permanent professors from UFRN, researchers from Brazilian universities participate in the Humanitas Institute. Among them is the Institute's first director, Alípio de Souza, and vice-director Douglas Araujo, both from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).
   The creation of the Humanitas Institute makes it possible to offer society a new space for research and scientific training in the area of ​​Humanities and for promoting public debate, elevating UFRN nationally and internationally in the production of theoretical knowledge, in participating in debates on current social issues and providing opportunities for projects inspired by the integration between science and practical action.
