The Communication, Culture and Media (Comídia) Research Group, from the Social Communication department (Decom), from the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts at UFRN, is holding the 1st Symposium on Radio Studies and Research in RN from the 8th to the 10th of November, with the theme Radio in times of change: Challenges and Opportunities, at the Communication Laboratory (LabCom) at UFRN.
Coordinated by professor and broadcaster Adriano Gomes, the event marks the end of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the state's first broadcaster, Rádio Educadora de Natal (REN), founded in 1941, in the voice of announcer Genar Wanderley. In 1944, REN was incorporated into the Rede dos Diários Associados and received the name Rádio Poti.
The symposium aims to hold exhibitions, workshops, debates and presentations of work around the central theme. Furthermore, it seeks to raise awareness among the academic community and society about the value and importance of radio as a means of communication.
