The Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLEM), through the Cinéclub Lumière extension project, will hold, next Tuesday, the 5th, a screening of the film Azur y Asmar, at Instituto Ágora, at 2pm, in Auditorium 1. After the session, a debate will be held with those present, with the participation of professor Tâmara Abreu.
Cinéclub Lumière is an activity aimed at promoting the French language and disseminating Francophone culture through film productions made in or about French-speaking countries around the world. The action, coordinated by professor François Weigel, in addition to presenting cinematographic works to the public, also brings themes from the contemporary world, such as urbanity and social inequality.
For the teacher, cinema is a way of seeing and hearing the language alive, in interaction, with everyday dialogues, taking into account slang and accents, being an enriching contact for students in the area. "Our students, in general, like to discover the French language through cinema. In the previous session, we had a crime film shown and, this time, an animated film", he says.
The project aims both to improve knowledge of the language among students on the French Literature course and to provide an open reflection for Natal society on the diversity and cultural references specific to countries that speak the language. François also points out that the project, created by the students themselves, brings films that are not necessarily known to the general public to awaken students' curiosity about other genres and ways of doing audiovisual.
Even though the film is an animation, the work, immersed in the Arab world, can also be enjoyed by adults, as current themes are addressed, especially the involvement with interculturality. Tâmara Abreu, professor responsible for the debate and specialist in children's literature, highlights that the topics covered will be Eastern Arab culture, France's relations with the countries of the Maghreb (North Africa) and, above all, fraternity. Registration is carried out through Sigaa.
