The Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLEM) is holding the event Beauvoir Presente, on Friday, 25th, at 4:30 pm, in auditorium E of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA). The activity takes place in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the publication of the work The Second Sex (1949), by Simone de Beauvoir.
One of the most important figures in feminism, Beauvoir highlighted how society has been stereotyped and organized according to the laws of patriarchy, which impose hierarchies according to the division of people into race, class, gender, religion and identity.
Philosophical, political and social issues in his work are raised by author Julia Kristeva, in her book Beauvoir Presente. Kristeva's criticism demonstrates the relevance of the writer's thinking in the face of the challenges of contemporary society and the fight for women's rights. “Through this event we seek to promote reflection on feminist movements around the world.”
The community at large can participate in the event. 40 places are offered and registrations are made via Sigaa. Programming at the link.
