The Department of Communication (Decom/UFRN) promotes the extension event Human Rights and Alternative Media in Rio Grande do Norte. With free registration in the Integrated Academic Activities Management System (Sigaa), the meeting takes place on July 1st, from 1pm to 7pm, at the Communication Laboratory (LabCom).
The event aims to bring together researchers, activists and alternative communication representatives from Natal to discuss how access to participatory communication can broaden and deepen the recognition of human rights. This is especially linked to the circulation of abusive speeches regarding these rights in the electoral process.
The program will feature the screening of the documentary It wasn't an accident, they killed my father, by journalist Jana Sá, at 2pm. The film tells the story of his father, Glênio Sá, communist leader and the only person from Rio Grande do Norte to participate in the Araguaia Guerrilla. Glênio died in a mysterious car accident in 1990, and his family never accepted the official version.
There are also two round tables on the themes of Activism, communication and human rights and Alternatives of action to traditional media, which have as guests journalists Jana Sá, Janaína de Lima and Rafael Duarte, Decom professor Aline Lucena, Altamiro Borges, representative of the Centro de Mídia Alternativa Barão de Itararé, and a member of the State Government's communications team.
