The Reading Club Project – Book Banquet, from the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLEM), from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes another reading followed by debate. The meeting takes place on April 30th, starting at 4:30 pm, in the Mini Auditorium of the Zila Mamede Central Library.
The Book Banquet debates one book each month. In April, the classic work We (1920), by the Russian writer Yevgeny Zamyátin (1884-1937) will be covered. The theme of utopia versus dystopia will be the focus of the discussion, with the aim of awakening critical thinking in participants and leading the debate towards understanding between fiction and reality.
At the opening of the event, the project coordinator will give an explanation on the topic, contextualizing the work and the author, establishing relationships between the book and other works in the dystopian genre. Participants will be divided into groups for discussion and exchange of reading experiences. The debate will be conducted with a focus on the topics proposed for discussion.
