CCHLA promotes Second Text Revision Workshop for Beginners

Last week, on the 12th, 13th and 14th of September, the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), in collaboration with the University Publishing House (EDUFRN), the Department of Distance Education (Sedis) and Comunica, held the Second Text Revision Workshop for Beginners, with a 12-hour workload.
The workshop was attended by Fabíola Barreto, professor of Portuguese Language and proofreader at Sedis, and Karla Oliveira, employee of the Revision and Layout Sector at CCHLA, who shared their theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of proofreading. Furthermore, during the event, practical review activities were carried out under the guidance of Wildson Confessor, text reviewer at EDUFRN, and Êmili Rossetti, reviewer from the Communication Agency's writing team (Agecom/UFRN).
The event provided students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with text review, by introducing preliminary notions about this activity.  This included making linguistic (spelling, syntactic and semantic) and discursive adjustments to the text. In this way, participants were able to learn about the theories that underlie the practice of revision, as well as the forms of textual normalization.
During the three days of activities, the workshop team not only discussed text revision, but also presented it as a valuable work option. Thus, participants had the opportunity to acquire knowledge, both in relation to the Portuguese language, with regard to the text and social practices of reading and writing, as well as revision.
In addition to encouraging the growth of participants in the academic and professional spheres, the workshop also included an interactive moment in its program, through a literary draw. Those drawn were awarded books donated by EDUFRN, further enriching the event experience.
More information about the text revision workshop can be obtained via email and/or on the profile @revisaodetextos_cchla on Instagram.
