Activity discusses the future of design students

The Design Department (DDGN/UFRN) holds a round table, with the participation of professionals and graduates of the course, to discuss the possibilities of working in the market after graduation. With the theme Facets of Design, the activity takes place in person at the Department of Arts (Deart) on August 26th, from 10am to 12pm. Registration can be done via followa.
As part of the Prisma-Design & Mercado 2022 extension project, coordinated by professors Lorena Torres and Luiza Falcão, the proposal is to debate demands and opportunities in the most diverse areas of Design. The idea aims to clarify what skills and competencies are expected from a professional in the field, in addition to addressing the ways to get a job and stay in tune with market changes.
For this edition, designers and former students of the course Laura Dias, who works with surface design in the fashion area in the Guararapes Group – Riachuelo industry, and Elisa Sampaio, founder of Hyfen Design, a studio in Rio Grande do Norte that works in the areas of brand identity design, editorial and web design, were invited.
The project, open to the public, is dedicated to interested parties, especially students and beginning designers, with the aim of stimulating discussion forums to bring the academic world closer to the job market in Rio Grande do Norte. “It is hoped that those interested in working with design will be able to see, based on the discussions held at the table, the different possibilities for design action based on local and national demands related to the area”, says Lorena Torres.
The activity also seeks to design the UFRN undergraduate Design course for professionals and companies operating throughout Brazil. The expectation is that course students develop an understanding of the skills and competencies most expected of professionals from the most diverse design fields for the current job market, considering the high demand.
