Starting on the 10th, the UFRN Philosophy Department will hold the Short Course: “Critical Theories of Reification: Georg Lukács, Max Horkheimer, Jürgen Habermas, Albena Azmanova”, which will be taught by professor Ivan Rodrigues and registration is open at SIGAA.
The short course will address four distinct theoretical conceptions of one of the most central concepts of Western Marxism: the concept of reification. Even though such conceptions (from Georg Lukács, Max Horkheimer, Jürgen Habermas, Albena Azmanova) are different, they have in common the critical understanding of capitalism as a society of the triumph of things over people, objects over subjects, products over producers, form over content, quantity over quality, profits over needs, money over language, means over ends.
The first meeting of the mini-course will take place next Tuesday, 10th, from 4pm to 6pm, in Room C1 of Classroom Sector II, UFRN Central Campus. The other meetings of the mini-course will take place on the 13th, 24th and 27th of June, at the same time. Registrants who attend the four meetings will receive a 16-hour certificate.
