The Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (PPGVA/UFRN) will hold, this Friday (1), the installation of the Course Board. This ordinary session marks the first meeting of the PPGVA board and includes the participation of professors linked to the program, the director of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), professor Josenildo Soares Bezerra, and the dean of Postgraduate Studies, professor Rubens Maribondo do Nascimento.
The PPGVA is the result of a joint effort by the Visual Arts Degree teachers, the Department of Arts and the main teachers and researchers – Visual Arts Research Group. During the Master's program, permanent professors will guide two lines of research: History of Arts, Aesthetics and Mediation; and Poetics and Productions in Arts. In addition, it also has two collaborating professors, professor Laura Utrera from the National University of Rosario (Argentina) and curator Sabrina Moura from the Louvre Museum in Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
Approved by CONSEPE on October 24, 2023, the program had its APCN project (Approval of Project for New Courses), approved by the ARTS/MUSIC area and recommended by CAPES at the 231st meeting of the Technical-Scientific Center for Higher Education, in September 2024. The Postgraduate program is now awaiting the publication of the ordinance for the first class, scheduled to start in 2025. selection notice should be released in 2024, so stay tuned for more information in the future.
This program represents an advance in training in visual arts in Rio Grande do Norte, filling existing training gaps in the state, training professionals to work professionally in various areas, such as cultural projects, academic institutions, historical and artistic heritage bodies, museums, galleries, among others.
