The book Vaqueiro de Gibão, by photographer and visual anthropologist Pablo Pinheiro, arrives at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) after circulating through cultural institutions and bookstores in France, Portugal and different Brazilian cities. The bilingual work, awarded the Silver Prize at the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (PX3), is part of its collection in the permanent collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) and the Acari Historical Museum.
The launch in Natal will be held on December 5th, at 3pm, in the UFRN Rectory Auditorium. The event will feature cultural programming and tastings of local products.
Before returning to Rio Grande do Norte, the book toured cultural spaces and bookstores such as BnF, in France, and Livraria Travessa de Lisboa, in Portugal. International circulation reinforces the relevance of the visual record produced by Pablo Pinheiro, which portrays the universe of the cowboy and his cultural expressions.
The arrival of the work at UFRN expands access to the material and promotes dialogue between photography, research and regional memory, bringing the academic community and the public of the state closer to a work that has already achieved international recognition.
