PPGAS/UFRN opens four places for a Master's degree in Social Anthropology aimed at indigenous people, quilombolas, gypsies and trans people

The Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (PPGAS/UFRN) published Notice nº 01/2026, which establishes an extraordinary selection process for the Academic Master's degree in Social Anthropology - Class 2027. The selection is specific to indigenous candidates, quilombolas, gypsies and transsexuals and transvestites.

In total, four vacancies will be offered. Candidates who self-identify as indigenous, quilombolas, gypsies and transsexuals and transvestites are eligible to apply for registration. If there are no candidates from these approved groups, the vacancies will not be filled.

The registration request is free and must be carried out exclusively online, through UFRN's electronic selection process system, via SIGAA. To access the system, the candidate must use gov.br, which will direct them to the SIGAA environment.

When making the request, you will need to fully fill out the form, as per the instructions in the notice, and attach the required documents in PDF format. For each item in the registration request questionnaire, only one document will be allowed to be sent. If it is necessary to insert several documents into a single item, they must be combined into a single file in PDF format, with a maximum size of 5 MB.

Requests that are not forwarded through the UFRN electronic system, via SIGAA, or that are made after the deadline established in the notice will not be accepted. It will also not be possible to add or replace documents after the registration request period has closed.

Calendar

The registration request period will be from August 17th to October 18th, 2026, until 11:59 pm.

The first stage, of approval of the requested registrations, will have the results announced on October 21st. Any appeals may be presented on October 22nd, with a response scheduled for October 26th.

The second stage will be the analysis of the preliminary project and memorial, with results scheduled for November 5th. The deadline for appeals will be November 6th, and responses and the disclosure of the hearing schedule will take place on November 9th.

In the third stage, the preliminary project and memorial will be discussed on the 11th and 12th of November. The result will be announced on November 13th, with a period for filing an appeal on November 16th and a response on November 17th.

The fourth stage corresponds to the final result of the selection process, scheduled for November 18, 2026. Appeals can be presented on November 19, with a response scheduled for November 23.

Successful candidates must confirm their interest in the vacancy by February 10, 2027, according to item 12 of the notice. The course is scheduled to start in March 2027.
