Taking place between the 8th and 12th of May, the UFRN's VII Visual Arts Week has as its theme “Process & Poetics in the Visual Arts”, aiming to open a space for reflection on contemporary art and its multiple forms of constitution, expanded into multiple networks of meanings, as it brings together different artistic practices, territories and devices.
Organized by the Degree Course in Visual Arts at DEART, the event pays homage to professor and artist Vicente Vitoriano, also promoting lectures, testimonials from artists and curators, exhibitions and workshops.
The opening of the Arts Week takes place at the DEART gallery, starting at 11:30 am on May 8th.

May 8th (Monday)

Tribute to professor and artist Vicente Vitoriano.
3pm to 5pm – Room 30 at DEART
Lecture: “Reperforming Affection”
This lecture deals with the importance that the concept of affection has taken on research in the area of Performance and Art, being taught by professor. dr. Naira Ciotti from UFRN.
May 9th (Tuesday)
9am to 12pm – Room 26 at DEART
Round table: “Process in Academic Research”
The professor. Arlete Petry proposes that research in Visual Arts can take place in different ways.
The talk will explore what it means to be a photographer and how research work can be an aesthetic experience.
The prof. Pellejero will address his experience in 2015, when he did research at the Reina Sofia Museum, in Madrid, about some works and adventures.

Testimony: – “Conversation with artist Adriana Rocha”
This statement and conversation with artist Adriana Rocha will be via videoconference. The artist is a painter, lives and works in São Paulo. His works deal with issues that speak of memories, time and their erasure.

Audiovisual programming – Films about artists
The video exhibition aims to bring to the public audiovisual productions created, for the most part, by artists from Rio Grande do Norte, followed by a conversation about the works presented.
May 10th (Wednesday)
9am to 12pm – Room L at DEART
Round table: “Conversation with artists Vicente Vitoriano and Artur Souza”
The artist and professor Vicente Vitoriano, based on his experienced career, will expose his creative process through the production of works in painting and watercolor.
Starting from the presentation of some works carried out over the last ten years, artist Artur Souza intends to address possible linearities, ruptures and influences of artists and theorists on his work, which generally deal with the relationship between graphic media (drawing and engraving) and the space where they take place.

Workshop: “Photography and creative processes in contemporary times”
Photographer and manager Elisa Elsie will present vectors of contemporary photography in its relations with the Visual Arts. The workshop will address some creative processes, portfolio and elements that make up the artist/photographer's cultural repertoire.
3pm to 5pm – Room 28 at DEART
Lecture: “Audiovisual processes”
Carito Cavalcanti will talk about his artistic life and his development in several languages (cinema, poetry, music and architecture). The presentation of his creative process, based on some specific examples, will be followed by the showing of five short films, their analysis and a debate with the public.
6pm to 9pm – Pinacoteca do RN
Exhibition: “Sad tropics_Bom Jardim”
Tristes Trópicos _ Bom Jardim is a multimedia installation that brings contemporary ruins closer to the ruins of the past. The exhibition features a video projection that takes over the entire Dorian Gray room at the Pinacoteca do Rio Grande do Norte, and also a sound installation called Quanto coco se dance, in homage to the Potiguar singer Chico Antônio.
May 11th (Thursday)
9am to 12pm – Room D at DEART
Lecture: “Cinema, brain and art”
Neuroscientist and professor at the UFRN Brain Institute, Sergio Neuenschwander will talk about seeing and art where he works in teaching and research related to perception and visual attention.
In addition to his scientific work, Sergio collaborates with the artist Rivane Neuenschwander on a series of art videos (Love Lettering, The Fall, Sunday and Enredo), which are part of international collections.
