UFRN hosts the largest communication congress in Latin America

With a varied program of debates, workshops, cultural presentations and thematic groups, the regional edition of Intercom Nordeste takes place at the UFRN Communication Department (Decom), between the 8th and 10th of May. The congress is named after the Brazilian Society for Interdisciplinary Communication Studies and its theme is Communication in times of artificial intelligence: expansion or reduction of social inequalities.
There will be three days of programming with spaces for the presentation of articles, divided into 16 thematic groups that address topics such as perspectives on black audiovisualities; communication, culture and internet and disinformation; and media education and fact-checking.
Addressing diversity, anti-racism and Big Tecs in communication, the workshops also extend to the areas of cinema, marketing and sport. There will be 18 in total. The training will be held over two days: on Thursday, 9th, from 6pm to 8:30pm; and on Friday, 10th, from 9am to 12pm. The award aims to recognize the best experimental works produced by communication students.
In addition to the presentations of the Working Groups (GTs), in which researchers submitted academic research, there is also the Ensicom Forum, a space dedicated to exchanging experiences related to communication teaching. There will also be an Extension Day, which aims to encourage the exchange of knowledge and methodologies used in extension actions. Coordinating teachers or members of teams implementing extension projects may participate.
The Communication Opportunities Exhibition covers products and services developed by students in professional undergraduate and master's courses. Companies and organizations in the field of communication will be present.
According to professor Valquíria Kneipp (Decom/UFRN), this is the first time that the regional stage of the congress has taken place at the University. "Intercom is a unique opportunity for Decom students, professors and researchers. We will have the chance to welcome our colleagues from the Northeast to exchange experiences. We can also present our research and integrate the entire Northeastern academic community", says the professor.
