UFRN hosts Colombian film festival

The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) will host the 2nd edition of the Colombia Migrante Film Festival, which takes place from October 4th to 6th. The event at the University is open to the public and is being coordinated by professor from the Department of Anthropology (DAN) Angela Mercedes Facundo. Four short films and five feature films will be screened during the festival.
Among the films on the program are: Siembra, winner of the Boccalino de Oro award at the Locarno Film Festival in 2015; and Sangre y Tierra, recognized in several festivals, including the 1st Wallmapu Indigenous Film Festival, in Chile; the CompArte por la Humanidad EZLN Festival, in Mexico; and the 5th Muestra Internacional de Cine SURMIC de Osorno, also in Chile.
Organized by the Network of Emigrant, Exiled and Refugee Artists for Peace, the project seeks to reflect on the memory and history of millions of victims of the Colombian conflict and provokes a reflection on deterritorialization and exile in other parts of the world.
The festival will open with a table that will discuss the processes of deterritorialization in Colombia, Palestine and the indigenous communities of Rio Grande do Norte (RN). The action is attended by professor Angela Facundo and doctoral students from the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS), as well as researchers into the processes of struggle for territories in Palestine and indigenous communities in Rio Grande do Norte, Michelle Ratto and Yuri Vasconcellos.
The event link and schedule with times and rooms will be available from September 1st on Sigaa. For now, information can be followed on the festival's website or Instagram.
