UFRN hosts a show by the Matula Teatro group

The Department of Arts (Deart), of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), receives, from September 6th to 11th, the Matula Teatro Group, from the city of Campinas-SP. The group will perform two theatrical performances, three days of artistic workshops and an open-air debate. All Maluta programming will be free.
The activities developed are part of the Como Se Fosse project: Tensions Between the Real and the Theatrical Scene, which is the result of a partnership between the actresses and the Performing Arts professor at UFRN, Melissa dos Santos Lopes. On September 9th, the Group presents the show Como Se Fosse, created based on the text Como se Fuera Essa Noche, by Spanish playwright Gracia Morales. The exhibition will have a double session, at 4pm and 7pm, and takes place at Teatro Laboratório Jesiel Figueiredo (Deart/UFRN).
Matula presents, from September 8th to 10th, in Room C of Deart, the artistic workshop Nos Passos da Penha, taught by Erika Cunha, which proposes scenic creation based on Law 11,340, better known as Lei Maria da Penha. The group also promotes, on September 10th, at 2pm, the debate Tem Prosa na Praça, in which the actresses and anthropologist Paulo Lopes (UFRN), mediated by professor Melissa Lopes, talk in an open circle at Praça do Relógio, in Bairro do Alecrim, about violence and the Maria da Penha Law.

About the Group
The Matula Teatro Group is a collective of artists that, together with other theatrical references, has been part of the artistic scene in Campinas (SP) for 21 years. Since 2000, it has carried out activities based on theater, which include various aspects of it: creation and circulation of shows, short and medium-term training actions and management of the Rosa dos Ventos Cultural Space, the group's headquarters since 2008. The shows, together with the workshops, have been held in various regions of Brazil and abroad, with emphasis on Germany, Mexico, Italy and Portugal. And now, due to social isolation, the group has been investigating the hybrid language of the theater scene and digital media, on different online platforms (zoom, instagram, whatsapp and youtube), as a means of staying active and in constant dialogue with those who appreciate the group's work
