UFRN holds lecture on Foucault and Bourdieu

Taking place on the 16th and 17th of May, an event that encompasses themes related to the theories of Michel Foucault and Pierre Bourdieu on social practices, power and gender and sexuality in society. On the first day, the 16th, a round table will take place with the release of 3 e-Books presented by its organizers, at 2pm, in the Ágora Auditorium (UFRN). The second day is the responsibility of the lecture A look at current Brazil in the light of Michel Foucault, taught by professor Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Júnior, at 9 am, in the Rectory Auditorium (UFRN).
The event aims to bring together the academic community to reflect on issues involving society. The first e-Book that will be released at the round table, Contemporary Social Practices: gender and sexuality, power and recognition, is organized by professor Lore Fortes and doctoral student Kelvis Nascimento, addressing the theories of Foucault and Bourdieu.
The second, Michel Foucault: reflections on knowledge and subjects, organized by Aryanne Oliveira, Lívia Barbosa and Lucas Súllivam Marques Leite, brings together similar initiatives, however, giving a literal focus to Foucault's contributions. The third, Symbolism of Morro do Careca, organized by Lore Fortes and Tiago Souto Bezerra, has as its initial motivation the desire to communicate and put into words the relationship between Bourdieu's theory and methodology with Lefevre & Lefevre's Collective Subject Discourse technique.
The lecture A look at current Brazil in the light of Michel Foucault aims to reflect the Brazilian social and political context in relation to the themes of power and sexuality, addressed by Foucault. Professor Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Júnior is a retired professor from the Department of History at UFRN, currently a visiting professor at the State University of Paraíba and a permanent professor in the Postgraduate Programs in History at UFPE and UFRN. There will be a debate at the end.
