UFRN holds IV Human Rights Seminar

The Marcos Dionísio Human Rights Reference Center (CRDHMD), a project linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), holds the IV Human Rights Seminar. The event takes place in person on the 15th and 16th of December, with activities taking place in the auditoriums of the Instituto Ágora and the Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes (CCHLA), as well as at Bar do Zé Reeira, located on Rua Prof. Zuza, in the Cidade Alta neighborhood.
The seminar is part of the human rights education line and alludes to International Human Rights Day, celebrated on December 10th. Furthermore, it addresses themes related to the current political-economic scenario, such as the challenges of rearticulating human rights, reflecting the actions of workers at SUAS (Sistema Único de Assistência Social) and SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde), and also highlighting different themes relating to the promotion, defense and guarantee of Human Rights.
The program starts at 4:30 pm on the 15th with the activity “Cultural: Performance DEART”. At 5:30 pm, the Opening Table of the event takes place, lasting approximately half an hour. At 6pm, a Conversation Circle will take place with the theme “The challenges for the rearticulation of Human Rights in the post-Bolsonaro period”. On Friday, the day begins with the “Workers of SUAS and SUS in guaranteeing Human Rights” panel at 9:30 am. From 2pm, short courses on Human Rights will be given and the event ends at 5:30pm with the closing cultural event and coffee break.
The seminar features the participation of agents involved in the fight for Human Rights. Among them are Natália Bonavides, lawyer and federal deputy for PT; Samara Martins, from the Movement for Struggle in Neighborhoods, Towns and Favelas (MLB); Carol Vidal, social assistance policy worker (CRAS Africa); Angely Cunha, president of CRES/RN; Íris Oliveira, Secretary of State – SETHAS/RN; Luana Soares, Leovictor Alves and Alice Paulista, from the Centro de Cidadania LGBT de Natal; Juliana Silva, Social Worker at CRDHMD and Pedro Levi, Member of the Brazilian Institute of Urban Law (IBDU) and CERAM/RN.
