UFRN promotes XIV Anthropology Week

In this year's edition, the theme chosen for the XIV Anthropology Week is “Anthropology of Media and Digital Images” and the proposal is to understand the social, cultural and political implications of the changes caused by the advent of the growth of the internet and media in our society. The event is promoted by the postgraduate course in Anthropology at the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts at UFRN and takes place from the 16th to the 18th of May, in Auditorium “B” at CCHLA from 9 am.
With a comprehensive program, ranging from the discussion of digital piracy and media activism and cyberactivism to discussions on art, audiovisual and aesthetics and new forms of collaborative production, such as the cultural and artistic Collectives now reborn and strengthened by online networks, the anthropology week will bring together some of the researchers who have been leading this research in Brazil, as well as young doctors whose recent doctoral theses already deal with these topics, such as Arthur Coelho Bezerra, Patricia Pavesi, Carolina Parreiras and Marcelo Castañeda.
The event will also bring as guests two researchers based in Portugal who, on the occasion, will meet in São Paulo and are scheduled for the event: Prof. José Ribeiro, from ISCTE, and Prof. Sonia Regina Soares da Cunha, from the University of Minho.
As can be seen in the proposed program, the table speakers and workshop instructors come from different disciplinary fields and different cities, mainly from Sociology and Communication and, of course, from Anthropology itself.
Registration to participate in the event is done through SIGAA, at the link: https://sigaa.ufrn.br/sigaa/public/extensao/paginaListaPeriodosInscricoesAtividadesPublico.jsf?aba=p-extensao
