The Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Disasters (NUPED) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes the VII Multidisciplinary Seminar on Disasters, which takes place on the 28th and 29th of September in the Amphitheater “A” of the Center for Exact and Earth Sciences (CCET) at UFRN. The event addresses the theme “Disaster risk reduction strategies on a local scale: post-pandemic lessons”.
To register, interested parties must access the event page (here) and fill in their full name and email in the appropriate fields. The first batch, which only gives access to the in-person event, is now open and will run until the 27th. The second, which only gives access to the online event, will start on the 20th.
The seminar mainly aims to discuss the issue of disaster risks and the research and extension actions developed by the academic community on the topic, bringing public authorities and sectors of society that are affected by natural disasters to the debate with the aim of making Rio Grande do Norte resilient in managing this problem.
The event schedule starts on the 28th at 8:30 am with an opening table. After that, at 9 am, the conference on the theme of the event begins. Then, at 10:15 am, there will be a lecture on the Ambulanchas Project. In the afternoon, the round table, at 2 pm, addresses the Assessment of the performance of civil protection and defense bodies in disasters. The second lecture will be at 3:45 pm, on the importance of community training within the National Civil Protection and Defense System.
The second day (29) also begins at 8:30 am with a round table covering “Experiences of the Elos Project and CEMADEN Education”. During the break, from 10am to 10:15am, the technical report, books and videos on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) are launched. Afterwards, the third round table begins, addressing reports and struggles of communities vulnerable to disasters. In the afternoon, the last round table of the event takes place at 2 pm and at 3:15 pm there is the closing conference.
