UFRN promotes Social Sciences Week from November 8th to 11th

From the 8th to the 11th of November, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) is holding Social Sciences Week, with the theme “Brazil: Dystopias and Utopias”. The event takes place in the Ágora Institute auditorium and has the participation of various bodies and professors from the university.
The Week aims to analyze, reflect and debate Brazil just out of the polls in its utopias and dystopias based on the contribution of Social Sciences. To this end, the event shows a contrast between the country at the beginning of the 21st century and today, demonstrating that, around 20 years ago, more progressive agendas for the new century were being discussed, while today agendas considered outdated and outdated have returned.
On the first day of the event, a conference will take place on structural racism in Brazil. In the second, there will be a panel debate on “Brazil that comes out of the polls”, in addition to the screening of documentaries and another panel debate at the end of the day, this time on “Social sciences and challenges for the present”.
On the third day, the first activity will be a debate table that discusses “The place and contribution of the Northeast in a project to reinvent Brazil” and then the screening of documentaries to end the day with the last debate table of the Week, with the theme “The centrality of the peripheries in a Brazil project”. Finally, on the last day, the event's closing panel will take place, which will address the 2022 elections and the challenges for democracy in Brazil.
The organizing committee is formed by Anna Bárbara Araújo, from the Department of Social Sciences (DCS), Cesar Sanson (DCS), Gilmar Santana (DCS) and Paulo Victor Leite Lopes, from the Department of Anthropology (DAN).
