UFRN promotes round table on comic art and pays tribute to clown Facilita

II CLOWNING: UFRN takes the art of laughter and pays homage to a local icon in Natal
The Department of Arts (Deart) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) holds, from December 1st to 7th, the II PALHAÇAR. The extension event aims to bring comic art to the population of Natal, especially public school students, and pay homage to the rich tradition of the clown.
The opening table, released to the public, will take place on December 1st, at 2:30 pm, at the DEART/UFRN Laboratory Theater. The event aims to discuss and value circus art, paying tribute to a local icon, the clown Facilita. At 66 years old and with a 50-year career, Facilita is one of the most active and beloved clowns in Rio Grande do Norte. The tribute, mediated by actor and clown George Holanda, will feature the participation of Rodrigo Bruggemann, the clown Piruá, and will include a chat with Facilita, followed by a surprise.
On Saturday, December 2nd, starting at 10 am, an outing of clowns made up of students from the UFRN Theater Degree Course will tour Feira do Alecrim. On December 7th, a variété, a variety show with clowning sketches, will be presented to Elementary School students at Escola Estadual Professora Maria Luiza Alves Costa, in the Felipe Camarão neighborhood. The school is part of the Institutional Teaching Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBID), Theater subproject, developed by students.
The show is a composition of characters and comic scenes created by students based on the traditional repertoire, a result of the Introduction to Clowning curricular component. In addition to the presentations, the Undergraduate students developed Theater lesson plans, promoting a rich and creative experience.
PALHAÇAR seeks to strengthen the link between public schools and universities, providing entertainment to populations with less access to quality cultural presentations. The event, coordinated by professor André Carrico and with the support of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts, has free entry to all actions.
