The Department of Anthropology of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in collaboration with the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte and the Research Center of the New Social Cartography Project of RN (PNCS/UFRN), announces the holding of the extension course “Prior, Free and Informed Consultation: Challenges for Traditional Peoples and Communities”. The virtual event is scheduled to start at 2pm on August 24th, with registration available through SIGAA.

This course aims to address in detail and clarify the legislation related to Prior, Free and Informed Consultation, as established in Convention 169 of the International Labor Organization (ILO), to which Brazil is a signatory.
The main focus will be on analyzing the challenges faced by traditional peoples and communities in the context of this consultation, as well as the impacts resulting from developments in traditional territories.
