Aimed at Literature students and teachers from across the state of Rio Grande do Norte, this year's VI Literature Week has as its central theme the Languages in the era of (non) power. Open to the university community, the activities will take place between the 18th and 22nd of November, in the Instituto Ágora building.
As a way of stimulating scientific production and critical thinking about the varied discourses in the current situation, the VI Week of Letters has as its goal the encouragement of education. According to the president of the Week's Organizing Committee, Elias Mata, “in the face of a scenario of uncertainty in encouraging investment in education, we believe that the language is being used in a distorted way”. For him, it has never been more necessary to know how to see what is between the lines of language.
In its sixth edition, the Letters Week brings other new features: this year's program includes the I PPGEL Research Forum and the II Cycle of Research in Letters, as well as workshops, mini-courses and conversation circles.
The I PPGEL Research Forum is dedicated to invited students from the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies who will present their research in a data blitz format. With the aim of communicating the main points of each research in an accessible way to a diverse audience, the presentations will last up to five minutes. Interested parties can participate in registration for the Forum until October 25th, using the link.
The II Cycle of Research in Literature is aimed at presentations of research work, with the target audience being students from the Literature course who research in the area of Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or Literature. Submissions of work for the action take place until the 31st of this month, via email: cplufrn@gmail.com. After submitting the productions, the accepted works will be announced until November 5th, the same date on which registration for the event begins, via Sigaa.
The community in general can register for the VI Week of Letters. Registration is open on Sigaa and runs until November 10th. More information about the program is available on the website. The event is promoted by the Academic Center for Literature in partnership with the Department of Literature, the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literature (DLLEM) and the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies at UFRN (PPGEL).
