The XXI Anthropology Week at UFRN began this Wednesday the 22nd, and continues until next Friday the 24th, with the theme: “Anthropology, migrations and geographies of power”. Since its creation in 2000, this event has been intended to discuss current themes and dimensions relevant to the anthropological discipline. Likewise, it is a space for reflection on its role in generating scientific knowledge and possibilities for transformation, aiming for a fairer social order.
The program includes conferences, round tables, conversation circles and the presence of researchers and speakers from various parts of Latin America. The Opening Conference with the theme: Love and geographies of power, was given by Unicamp professor, Adriana Piscitelli, with a debate mediated by professor Pietra Azevedo (UFRN).
Also during the event, which will take place in the Auditorium of the Zila Mamede Central Library (BCZM), topics such as: Expulsions and imprisonment, borders and the local perspective of geographies of power will be discussed.
The closing conference will be given by professor Eduardo Domenech (UNC – Argentina) with the theme: “Disputed borders, unmanageable migrations”. Registration can be done via SIGAA, where it is also possible to check the complete program.
