University Restaurant suspends activities due to renovation

In order to improve the services provided to the academic community, the University Restaurant (RU), of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), suspended the operation of the unit from this Monday, July 1st. The expected return of activities is 90 days, due to renovations to adapt accessibility and restructure production spaces.
According to the director of RU, Michelle Medeiros, the renovation will bring benefits to those who use the services of the University Restaurant and to those who work there, as the works aim to accommodate the mobility of people with disabilities, as well as improving the internal spaces for producing meals. “We will have improvements in internal and external spaces, bringing quality to employees and users in the UK”, explains the nutritionist.
According to the deputy dean of Student Affairs (Proae), José Pereira de Melo, to guarantee quality training and encourage the permanence of students in socioeconomic vulnerability, UFRN will offer special food assistance, which will be granted to in-person undergraduate and postgraduate students on the central campus, beneficiaries of free access to meals served in the University Restaurant and in the biomedical area cafeteria. “In this way, resident students and those who receive housing assistance or food assistance will be served, according to the number of meals they are entitled to per week”, explains the manager.
The aid will be paid in the months of July, August and September. However, in the month of July, only students who declared having activities during the academic recess period will receive the full amount of aid. The rest will receive 1/3 of the amount for one week of classes scheduled for the month of July.
