The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and Parque das Dunas, in Natal, will be the stage for the artistic residency “Dunas – Território de Criação Collaborativa”. The event will take place between the 14th and 26th of August, and promises an immersive experience in the universe of contemporary art, music, nature and traditional knowledge. Registration takes place via the portal: ajornada.org
The artistic residency brings together talented creators from Burkina Faso, Spain and Brazil, who aim to share their unique visions and collaborate on innovative creations. With more than 100 hours of free programming, the public will be able to participate in inspiring talks, practical workshops, enriching conversation circles, video shows and cultural presentations.
From August 14th, at 6pm, the Ágora Institute Auditorium will host the opening lecture given by Josep Cerdá, a renowned artist, professor and researcher at the University of Barcelona, addressing the topic of Sound Art. Among the distinguished speakers and participants, François Moïse Bamba and Konomba Traoré, representatives of Burkina Faso, stand out, as well as musicians Helder Vasconcelos and Laura Tamiana, filmmaker Mari Corrêa from Instituto Catitu – Aldeia em Cena, and Maria Eugenia Salcedo, former artistic director of Instituto Inhotim.
All events will provide free access to the public, promoting the democratization of culture and arts. For the workshops, which have limited places, it is necessary to register in advance through the event's official website: www.ajornada.org. The lectures and conversation circles will take place in partnership with the departments of humanities, visual arts and communication courses at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), promoting a unique connection between academics and artists.
The central theme of this first edition of the artistic residency “Dunas – Território de Criação Collaborativa” is deeply associated with Parque das Dunas, the second largest natural reserve in urban areas in Brazil. The choice of Natal as host of the event and Parque das Dunas as the venue was driven by the invitation of Maurício Panella, a figure known for his project “Jornada no Bosque” and the Casadágua Institute and Studio. For two decades, the Casadágua Institute and Studio has been dedicated to actions and reflections that explore the relationships between art and museum in this Conservation Unit.
