UFRN professor is honored with the Nísia Floresta Medal

The Director of the Institute of Public Policies (IPP) at UFRN, Lindijane de Souza Almeida, was one of those honored with the Nísia Floresta Medal, this Thursday (23), at the headquarters of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-RN). The honor, which has been held annually since 1990, is a form of recognition for work defending women's rights.
In this 2023 edition, in addition to Professor Lindijane, the event honored four more women who dedicate their work to public policies. The ceremony was attended by the first lady and representative of Natal City Hall, Amanda Grace Dias. Councilor Júlia Arruda, lawyers and councilors from the municipality also participated.
During the ceremony, the UFRN professor thanked the recognition and said she was honored to receive an award named after fellow educator Nísia Floresta. "It's a thrill to have been honored with this medal, the name says it all. Having the honor of receiving this medal made me very emotional and very happy. I really hope to be able to advance even further in what we do, which is the fight for public policies. It's working and thinking about public policies in general but also for women", she said
