UFRN professor participates in conference on Saramago in Bulgaria

The importance of award-winning author José Saramago leads to an extensive program of celebrations for this writer's centenary. All over the world, the subject forms a long agenda and generates promising debates. In this sense, on the 27th and 28th, the conference The international reception of José Saramago's literary work will take place, organized by the Department of Portuguese and Lusophone Studies and the José Saramago Chair at the University of Sofia Sveti Kliment Ohridski, in Bulgaria. As a representative of UFRN, professor Pedro Fernandes de Oliveira Neto, from the Department of Literature at the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), will be present.
In the opening session of the conference, the Aula Magna of the University of Sofia will take place on the 27th, at 10:30 am (local time), and will be followed by the conference The internationalization of José Saramago's work: dissemination, legacy and posterity, given by professor Carlos Reis, commissioner for the Centenary celebration. Director of the Revista de Estudos Saramaguianos, professor Pedro Fernandes from UFRN presents, at 4:20 pm on the 27th, the work entitled: The reception of José Saramago in Brazil, some contribution.
The meeting has a mixed format, in-person and virtual, and brings together other renowned experts from universities in different countries, such as Brazil, Romania, Hungary, United Kingdom, Argentina, Croatia and Morocco. Centennial celebrations
Activities regarding José Saramago's centenary began on November 16, 2021 and continue until the same date in 2022. Events such as exhibitions, book publications, collective readings, demonstrations in theater, dance, plastic arts, and a multitude of academic activities, such as the 2nd Colloquium on Saramaguiano Studies, held at the opening of the celebrations by UFRN and Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), were produced to debate about the author.

Activity discusses the future of design students
