Postgraduate in Philosophy discusses the concept of race and discrimination

The Postgraduate Program in Philosophy (PPGFIL) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte holds the workshop A race. Between metaphysics and politics, on June 17th and 18th, in Auditorium D of the Centro Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes (CCHLA).
The event will promote reflection and discussion on the concept of race from the intersection between metaphysics and politics, covering both the dimension of historical reconstruction and the theoretical dimension.
The program features the mini-course The Contemporary Debate on the Metaphysics of Race, with professor Rogério Corrêa, from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE); the lectures When Light is Shadow: The Use of Reason for Racial Discrimination, given by professor Érico Andrade, also from UFPE, and Racism as a Social Kind, given by professor Franz Knappik, from University Bergen.
The meeting will have a space dedicated to the presentation of works by postgraduate students from different areas of knowledge that address the issue of race. The presentations will last 25 minutes and will be followed by a debate. Interested parties can send a 500-word summary to email: sanfede@hotmail.it. The deadline for receiving abstracts is June 8th.
