With more than 200 graduated students and, currently, with 400 linked students, the Department of Public Policies and the Public Policy Management course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promoted on the night of last Wednesday, 17th, a round of conversations to start the academic year commemorating the units' 10th anniversary.
Sharing experiences and reflecting on the next steps, the current coordinator, Zoraide Souza Pessoa, highlighted that, despite being short in time, it has already generated construction. "The group of teachers is diverse, but integrated within itself. I hope that in 10, 20, 30 years, we will be here celebrating success, continuing teaching that provides what we have already observed in our graduates: ethical and participatory participation in public policies in various spheres of our society", he said. Claudio Roberto de Jesus, head of the Department, reinforced that the companionship and support of the unit's employees was fundamental in the journey.
In the auditorium of Instituto Ágora, the moment was also a tribute to the founders of the Department, Maria do Livramento Miranda Clementino, Márcio Morais Valença and Fernando Bastos. Amid the celebration, the rector of UFRN, Angela Maria Paiva Cruz highlighted that the meeting recalls Reuni, a favorable moment to think about new ways of acting for the University for the development of the state.
"The course and the department are the result of this, of the movement of professors to leave the commonplace and have the proactivity to indicate a new path that has made UFRN great. An innovative undergraduate training project. And the students, a highlight aside, with their creative presence, are essential in this context", he stressed. Closing the night, the winner of the commemorative logo competition was announced, designed by Kalazans Louzá Bezerra da Silva, a student on the Public Policy course.
