The Tutorial Education Program (PETGEO), from the Department of Geography at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (DGE/UFRN), carries out the 16th episode of its GeoProsa podcast, entitled “World overpopulation: the dangers of overpopulation”. The guest this time is professor Dr. Járvis Campos, professor at the Department of Demography at UFRN.
In this episode, the interlocutors discuss demographic theories and their characteristics, fertility rates, birth rates, mortality rates and how these elements are associated with changes and acceleration in population growth, as well as their influence on the modern world. The episode is presented by Amanda Teotônio and Iago Souza and can now be seen on YouTube (link), as well as on Spotify (link).
Professor Járvis Campos has a PhD in Demography from the Center for Development and Regional Planning (CEDEPLAR/FACE/UFMG), having completed an exchange/sandwich at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). In addition, he is coordinator of the ABEP Demographic Projections and Estimates Committee, coordinator of the Laboratory of the Demographic Studies Group (GED/DDCA), vice-coordinator of the OBVIO Network (Violence Observatory of Rio Grande do Norte).
The first episode of GeoProsa aired on September 30, 2020 and since then has addressed relevant topics mainly related to geography and politics.
