The Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Disasters (Nuped/UFRN) and the National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts (Cemaden), linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, have opened the deadline for submitting articles for the collection “Disaster Risk Indicators in Brazil”.
The submission date extends until January 30, 2023. Accepted works will be sent to the publishing process, expected to be published in October of the same year by UFRN Editora (Edufrn). Summaries must be sent to email: indicadoresbrasilrrd@gmail.com
The submission of works seeks to bring together the main results of research on disaster risk indicators, thus filling a gap on this topic in the country. The book will be structured around four axes: theoretical-conceptual aspects, methodologies, validation and applications. Prof. are part of the organization of the call. Lutiane Queiroz de Almeida, coordinator of Nuped/UFRN, and Cemaden researcher, Silvia Saito.
The purpose of publishing the collection is to bring together articles that address the following themes: disaster risk indicators; natural threat indicators; exposure indicators; vulnerability indicators; resilience indicators; indicators of disaster response capabilities; indicators of adaptation to changes caused by disasters and environmental degradation; disaster impact indicators (post-disaster); disaster and disaster risk databases; indicators produced from disaster risk modeling (use of drones, GPR’s, laser scanners, etc.).
The submission process comprises four phases: the first refers to sending abstracts about the authors, which must be between 300 and 500 words. Works will be accepted in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The selection process requests the description of information such as affiliations, areas of activity, email and professional address. The second phase involves sending chapters of up to 20 pages, with the standard compatible with the selection process notice (including bibliographic references and figures). The third phase refers to the editing part, and the fourth, publication.
