The collegiate meeting of the directors of the various centers of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte began this Tuesday, the 28th, with the inauguration of professor Luis Passeggi as the new director of the Publishing House of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The formality began with vice-rector José Daniel Diniz de Melo praising the previous manager, professor Maria da Conceição Fraga and continued praising EDUFRN, recalling its support for postgraduate courses. Diniz closed his speech by saying that “Passeggi is very motivated and we are sure he will do an excellent job”.
The new director then thanked the appointment, classifying it as an honor and a joy and stated that, “I will be able to contribute to UFRN in this sector, I will make visits, talk to advisors, directors, managers in general in an attempt to map demands and see how to improve the role of EDUFRN in the university community”.
Representing the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts at the meeting, the center of which the newly appointed director Passeggi belongs, professor Sebastião Faustino Pereira Filho recalled that "EDUFRN has been directed by representatives of the CCHLA. Today, if we look at the data, more than 50% of the works are by authors from the Center, demonstrating its importance in the production of texts, as the humanities area predominates in book publishing." Faustino then praised the work of professor Maria da Conceição Fraga, the technicians who work at the agency and concluded by stating that the new director must maintain a good dialogue with all actors and that new partnerships will be made to further improve EDUFRN.
The appointed director Luis Passeggi is a professor of Linguistics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, with a PhD in Linguistics from the Université Paul Valéry – Montpellier III – France (1981); master in Lettres Modernes from the same university (1976) and has post-doctoral internships in: Cognitive Psychology (UFPE, 2006-2007); Text Linguistics (PUC, 2013-2014); Cognitive Semantics (UNISINOS, 2014-2015).
